Ex-Navy Controller Convicted In Slaying Of Wife

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former air traffic controller for the Navy has been convicted of interstate domestic violence in the stabbing death of his wife in 2009.

Ryan Holness, 30, of Lexington Park was convicted Monday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. He will be sentenced on June 9.

According to evidence presented at his two-week trial, Holness had a $500,000 life insurance policy on his wife, Serika Dunkley Holness, 26, who lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her body was found on the side of a rural Eastern Shore road on June 5, 2009.

Ryan Holness had told police that he and his wife were carjacked while returning to Maryland from New York. But DNA evidence implicated Ryan Holness in the slaying.
