Ex-D.C. Police Officer Pleads Guilty To Fraud
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Metropolitan Police Department says a former officer has pleaded guilty to three counts of misdemeanor fraud in connection with his duties in 2008 and 2009.
Police say David Cephas entered the plea Thursday. The 22-year veteran resigned from the department in June.
Authorities say Cephas falsified logs documenting certification times in the deployment of the department's mobile photo radar equipment. Police say 200 radar citations had to be recalled and fines totaling more than $17,000 were refunded.
As part of his plea deal, Cephas agreed to pay restitution of more than $17,000.
