ESPN's Kevin Van Valkenburg Joins Glenn Younes Talking NBA Finals And Lebron James

Former writer for the Baltimore Sun and current writer for ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com, Kevin Van Valkenburg, recently wrote an article addressed as sort of a time capsule to his daughters.  Twenty years down the road, he wanted to remind his daughters what Lebron James is and what he could be.  Van Valkenburg joined Glenn Friday on The Fan.

There's no question Lebron James is one of the greatest basketball players to grace the hardwood.  All you have to do is say his first name, and people will instantly know who you are talking about.  No player is more heavily scrutinized, put under a microscope, and analyzed than Lebron.

There is something majestic about his game, but at times frustrating.  Lebron is human like the rest of us.  Van Valkenburg wrote:

Why do I feel the need to explain all this to you? Good question. I guess it's because even though I know they can be empty and exploitive and infuriating, sports still mean a great deal to me. It's one of the few places in life where artistry and brute strength can not only coexist, they can work together in concert. Athletics can be stirring and inspiring, but they can also be joyous and beautiful. Few players helped me understand this better than LeBron James.

With the NBA Finals currently underway, we have a chance to see just how amazing and vulnerable Lebron James really is.  How will you remember him when it is all said and done?
