EPA's Senior Chesapeake Bay Advisor Leaving Post
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Chuck Fox, the federal Environmental Protection Agency's senior Chesapeake Bay adviser, is leaving the position to join a new ocean conservation effort.
Fox announced Tuesday that he would be leaving the post he has held for the past two years to join the effort being started by groups including the Oak Foundation and Planet Heritage Foundation. Fox, who had previously served as Maryland's Secretary of Natural Resources, said the initiative will support results-oriented projects while expanding philanthropic investments in ocean protection.
Fox is leaving as the EPA is finalizing its "pollution diet" for the Chesapeake that will toughen pollution limits for the
six-state watershed. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson says Fox brought unparalleled knowledge to bay restoration and his work has been central to progress made over the past two years.
