EPA's Jackson To Speak At Ecosystem Conference
BALTIMORE (AP) -- How has restoration of large ecosystems like the Chesapeake Bay and the Gulf of Mexico changed following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill? That's what the head of the Environmental Protection Agency will be talking about in Baltimore on Friday.
EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson will speak on the closing day of the National Conference on Ecosystem Restoration along with the chair of Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and a Maryland scientist who's on President Barack Obama's Gulf oil spill committee.
The weeklong conference is addressing engineering, planning and policy for restoration of large-scale ecosystems. The EPA's senior Chesapeake Bay adviser spoke at the conference Tuesday, saying the EPA's restoration strategy can stand up to court challenges from farm and development groups.
