Ellicott City Man Charged With Burglary, Sex Offense
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ)—An Ellicott City man faces a slew of charges after Howard County police say he burglarized a home and inappropriately touched a teenaged occupant.
It happened Sept. 21 around 5 a.m. in the 8700-block of Town and Country Boulevard.
Police say Alan Jaramillo-Jimenez, 19, entered an apartment by cutting the screen on a window. Once inside, he approached a teen who was sleeping on the couch and touched her inappropriately over her clothing. The victim awakened and the suspect fled with a laptop and cell phone.
Through investigation, police learned that the victim's mother had been approached by an unknown man while she was on her porch around 2:30 a.m. The man asked for a cigarette and she gave him one. She went inside and closed and locked the door.
After the burglary, she provided a detailed description of the subject to police. Based on the description provided, officers were able to identify him as Jaramillo-Jimenez.
Police executed a search warrant at Jaramillo-Jimenez's home, where the stolen cell phone and laptop were recovered.
He is charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, theft, fourth-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property.
He is being held on $175,000 bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
