Edgewood Man Arrested, Charged For Intentionally Setting Fire To His House
EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ)-- An Edgewood man has been arrested and charged with intentionally setting his house on fire.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal said William Lowry, 69, started the fire at 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 on an enclosed deck connected to his home at 214-B Kennard Avenue. The home was a single story, wood-frame single family dwelling. A neighbor reported the fire and 30 firefighters responded to the scene and found Lowry in the basement. Lowry's dog died in the blaze.
Investigators say the fire caused an estimated $175,000 in damage. They served the arrest warrant on first- and second-degree arson charges to Lowry at the Harford County Detention Center where he was being held for another unrelated offense. If convicted, he faces up to 50 years in prison and/or $80,000 in fines. He is awaiting a bond review hearing.
