EDF Officials Meet With O'Malley On Nuclear Plant
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Gov. Martin O'Malley met again with officials of French utility Electricite de France SA over stalled plans for a third reactor at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in southern Maryland.
Constellation Energy Group Inc. announced last year that it was pulling out of a joint venture with EDF over risks linked to the high cost of a $7.5 billion federal loan guarantee.
The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday that Thomas Piquemal, EDF's executive vice president of finance, met Monday with O'Malley in Washington.
O'Malley supports a third reactor and has previously met with EDF officials about keeping the project alive. The governor has also spoken with Carol Browner, director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, about the project.
