But I agree with Bill Belichick. Belichick has recently stated that since NFL coaches are allotted 2 challenges ( 3 if they win on their initial ones) why not let them challenge anything?
The system currently in place is flawed as it stands so why not allow coaches to challenge penalties, etc. since they can easily have as much of an impact on a game's outcome as a fumble or incomplete pass. The rules governing challenges are fairly extensive so instead of having to memorize pages of plays that may be questioned why not just make it open to anything? If the call is wrong shouldn't it be corrected no matter what type of mistake it happens to be?
I think his suggestion makes perfect sense, and while the NFL considers it why not review the whole system? Right now if coaches challenge calls and are correct they extend their ability to throw the red flag by one. I simply don't understand why a team should be penalized if the officiating crew is having a bad day and blowing multiple calls. Shouldn't coaches keep getting chances to correct bad calls? It just seems wrong that in a league where games are often won or lost by inches and therefore championships literally decided on a single mistake that this seemingly flawed system remain intact.
