Ed Norris: Ed Reed Is Not Done Yet
We took a ton of phone calls and texts regarding Mike Preston's column in which he said the Ravens should have a conversation with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis about their ability to continue to help the team. First of all neither is done yet, but since most of the calls were aimed at Ed I'll focus on him.
First of all let's be honest and admit that as Ravens fans we are spoiled by having so many Pro Bowl and future HOF players. Because of this we get a bit jaded when they aren't flawless. Show me another team that has players that are in the conversation with Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs. Good luck because you're not gonna find one. So when Ed misses a tackle or hasn't made a game changing pick we start to complain. I agree that it appears that Ed Reed may be avoiding contact sometimes to protect his neck from further injury. Instead of pointing out this perceived flaw how about the fact that he continues to play despite the very serious danger he is in every game. How about considering that lesser quarterbacks don't have the courage to throw in his direction and his lack of interceptions may just be lack of opportunities.
Not only do I think Reed still has much to contribute as they chase the Lombardi trophy but I predict as the Ravens inevitably face the best quarterbacks in football, as they will during the playoffs, you'll see Ed make some game changers.
