Dundalk Couple Recovering After 2 Armed Men Invaded Their Home
DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County police are looking for two brazen robbers who stabbed and shot a couple inside their own home in Dundalk. One of the victims is recovering from emergency surgery at Shock Trauma.
Derek Valcourt has more on the brazen home invasion.
WJZ spoke to one of the women who was inside that home when two robbers barged in, wielding a knife and a gun.
"I was scared to death," said Sharon, who would not give her last name.
Sharon shared the story of what happened inside her daughter's home at 705 Aldworth Road Sunday at 10:45 a.m. That's when two masked robbers broke into the house through the back door, identifying themselves as police officers.
"And came running up the steps with a gun and had it on me and her and the one behind him had the knife," Sharon said.
She says the robbers were demanding money and cell phones but the violence began when she tried to call 911. The robbers shot her daughter's 30-year-old boyfriend Justin and stabbed her 28-year-old daughter Amy.
"And he just started charging at me with a knife and she threw herself, 'You're not stabbing my mother! You're not stabbing my mother!' and I think that's how she got stabbed," Sharon said.
The robbers fled out the back door, down the alley and into a waiting getaway car. The home invasion is just as upsetting to neighbors, who say they are worried about crime in a community loaded with kids.
"It's scary because you want to be able to let your kids outside to play and you can't even do that or be in your own house, so it's very scary," said neighbor Alison Waugh.
"We actually had another friend who lives down the road on Dalton. She actually had a home invasion," said neighbor Bradley Kerns. "And now this."
As for the robbers, police say they don't have much of a description to go on.
"I want them caught so they don't do it to nobody else," Sharon said.
The woman who was stabbed will survive. Her injuries are not considered life threatening. The shooting victim was last listed in critical condition at Shock Trauma.
