Drivers Warned Of Weekend Work Near Wilson Bridge
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Drivers in Maryland and Virginia are warned to avoid parts of the Capital Beltway this weekend, beginning Thursday night, because of planned construction work.
Officials at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project say the construction work will occur on the beltway's inner loop, also
designated as I-95 and I-495 South. Planners expect delays to back up beyond the Wilson Bridge itself well into Maryland.
Weather permitting, crews will reduce the thru lanes on the beltway's inner loop to one lane between the Wilson Bridge and Telegraph Road. By Friday at 8 p.m. all of the thru lanes on the inner loop will be closed and are expected to remain closed until Monday morning.
The closures are needed for paving work.
