URBANA, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State police say the driver of a car that had been reported stolen in Virginia was killed when the vehicle left the road, went down an embankment and burst into flames.
It happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 270 near Urbana. Troopers say the car was being operated recklessly while traveling north on the interstate.
The News-Post of Frederick reports that the vehicle left the highway, went through a guardrail, traveled down an embankment, hit several trees and burst into flames. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
