Dried Hedgehog Seized From Man At Customs
WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they have seized a strange host of items from the suitcase of a man traveling into Dulles Airport, including elephant tails and a dried hedgehog.
The items were taken Dec. 3 from a passenger from Ghana who said the items -- which also included two dried chameleons and sheets with chicken blood on them -- were for spiritual purposes.
The passenger had declared he was carrying only dried herbs and clothing.
Customs and Border Protection found that the items posed a potential threat of carrying disease, and the majority of the items were burned.
