Drew Nicholas Weighs In On The Terps High Profile Recruit
Drew Nicholas of the Big Ten Network and ESPN joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to discuss the Terps latest high profile commit and to take a look at the Final Four. Five Star Center Diamond Stone who is from Milwaukee committed to the University of Maryland over the weekend turning down offers from Wisconsin and UConn. Drew talked about what it means from the program to land such a high caliber player. "Forget good times how about great times. It's funny because as much as we think of the University of Maryland, I kind of look at it as, think of the impact Melo Trimble has had. Because of the year Maryland had, which was due in large part to him, but most of the time these players nowadays want to play with other good players. Melo Trimble being a McDonald's All-American last year, now all of the sudden his presence there gives them extra credibility to go out and recruit guys like Diamond Stone."
Scott asked Drew if Maryland getting some national attention, defeating Wisonsin in primetime in front of a sold out crowd, could have had an impact on Stone getting away from Bo Ryan and the Badgers. "For sure between that and the style of basketball Maryland played this year, I thought that they were very entertaining to watch and if I was a high school kid getting ready to decide on which college I was going to go to, just from an eye test doesn't it look like the style of basketball Maryland plays might be more fun than the style that Wisconsin plays."
