Doughnut Gets An Upgrade For New Year's Eve Dunk

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The ceremonial New Year's Eve doughnut dunk in Hagerstown is getting an upgrade.

Organizer Pieter Bickford of What's NXT magazine says the giant papier mache doughnut that introduced the tradition two years ago has been replaced with a sturdier fiberglass version for the event Thursday night in the downtown Public Square.

Major sponsors include Krumpe's Do-Nuts, a local, family owned business since 1936. Krumpe's is donating 6,000 doughnuts to the event.
