Double Fatal Shooting At Baltimore County Bar
PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ)— A night out turned fatal for two people at a Pikesville bar. Two men were shot to death in a fight that police say started inside the bar and apparently continued outside.
Andrea Fujii is following the story.
It happened right as the bar closed for the night and police say it all started over a woman.
The parking lot behind the 1300-block of Reisterstown Road is now quiet, but early Sunday morning it was bustling with police activity after two men were shot and killed there.
The owner of the Paradiso Bar knows the victims.
"They're customers, they're actually kind of good customers of ours," he said.
Edgar Rodriguez says he was hosting Latino night inside his restaurant late Saturday night into Sunday morning. According to Baltimore County Police, two men inside Paradiso's got into a dispute over a girl and other people got involved.
"Those individuals were actually put out of the bar by the bouncers at that location and they walked around to the rear of that location to the parking lot," said Lt. Rob McCullough, Baltimore County Police.
At that point police believe another fight broke out in the parking lot ending with two Hispanic men shot and killed. Police say officers were already in route when the shots broke out and that they were called there for assistance after the fight inside the bar.
Edgar Rodriguez remembers it differently. He told WJZ there was no fight in his bar and that he routinely calls for police to help patrol for safety as Paradiso's closes up in the evenings.
"The bar was closing back up," he said. "It seemed like a group of guys were leaving. I really don't know what happened in the back parking lot and two guys came running back up and they said that they heard gunshots."
News of the shooting was alarming to many in the Pikesville area. Owners of the nearby boutique "Classique...Is" say when they heard about the shooting they came in to check on their store. But they say the late night parking lot incident likely won't have a major impact in the area.
Police have not yet identified the victims as they try to track down their family members first.
