Husband Arrested In Dundalk Woman's Fatal Shooting
DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) -- Police said 51-year-old Kevin Dipietrantonio was still holding the revolver he used to kill his wife when they arrived at his Dundalk home Tuesday night.
Dipietrantonio was charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a no bond status.
Baltimore County Police were called to the 1700 block of Brookview Road for a possible homicide around 6:30 p.m.
"We believe that this was the result of a tumultuous relationship that lasted over many years and this culminated in this final act of violence," said Officer Jennifer Peach, spokesperson for Baltimore County Police.
A concerned family member called 911, from another location, to report the incident.
A police report said when officers pulled up to the house Kevin dropped the gun in the front lawn, saying, "She's dead in the back room,"
County officers entered the residence and located the victim inside the bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as 47-year-old Janice Lynn Dipietrantonio.
Police said the couple did have several prior contacts with police that were domestic related incidents and believe that Tuesday's homicide was a culmination of their tumultuous relationship.
A family friend, who wished to remain anonymous said Kevin didn't participate in family events, and their 16 years of marriage were not healthy.
"All I know is that he was pretty controlling, and you know didn't let her do anything. You know, I know it was pretty tough from what I understand for her daughters to even see her," The friend said.
Court documents show Kevin's history of violence, including a protective order granted against him, and almost immediately removed by the victim in 2017.
"We do have previous calls for service at the location, involving that couple, including domestic incidents," Officer Peach said.
