DNA Evidence Leads To Arrest In Hit-And-Run

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County Police have arrested a man they say was driving a car that struck a bicyclist and fled the scene. Officers say DNA evidence obtained from the car led them to make the arrest.

Police say on July 14, Marco Garcia, 41, of Glen Burnie was biking on Crain Highway near Georgia Avenue when he was hit by a car that left the scene. Garcia was critically injured.

On July 18, police received a report of a vehicle matching the description in the hit-and-run crash. Officers say damage consistent with the accident was found. Police recovered DNA evidence from the car.

Police say the DNA was matched to Garcia. On Wednesday, the owner of the car, John Correlli, 57, of Baltimore, was charged with numerous traffic offenses.
