Director John Waters Endorses Mckesson For Baltimore Mayor

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Famous film director and Baltimore native John Waters has endorsed DeRay Mckesson for the city's next mayor.
The "Hairspray" film writer and director said in a video released by Mckesson's campaign that he likes the candidate's "surprisingly well-detailed platform" and national presence. Waters added that he likes Mckesson's fashion sense, too.
Mckesson is a well-known activist in the Black Lives Matter movement, particularly in protesting the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Freddie Gray in Baltimore. He's one of 13 Democrats vying to replace Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
Waters said he doesn't know how to fix Baltimore's problems these days, so someone "younger and more radical" than he is should have a crack at it.
