Deputy Fatally Shoots Burglar In His Own Home
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County Police say a sheriff's deputy from Virginia shot and killed a burglar in his Fort Washington home.
Police were called to the home on Rose Marie Drive about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers say the homeowner, a deputy in Alexandria, Va., had arrived home and found his front door damaged.
Police say the deputy went inside and confronted a man in the house. Police say the deputy shot the man, who collapsed outside and was pronounced dead.
Officers say the deputy had interrupted a burglary in progress. Detectives believe more suspects may have been on the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
