Protestors For Eric Garner March In Downtown Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Protestors flood the streets, calling for better police treatment. This, after another controversial grand jury ruling.
Rick Ritter has more on the growing outcry nationwide.
The protest started in McKeldin Square. Hundreds marched through city streets, demanding change.
From city to city, New York to Baltimore, a sea of protestors stormed through the streets, demanding justice across the country.
"I feel broken. I feel broken and sad," one protestor said.
This follows a grand jury's decision not to indict a New York police officer involved in the apparent choke-hold death of Eric Garner.
"Reality is that Eric Garner was murdered, excessive force was used by someone in an authority position," one woman said.
Garner, a 43-year-old father, died in July after police attempted to arrest him in Staten Island.
"Choked to the ground until his body was lifeless, laid out in the street," said Nic Powell.
On Thursday, Sky Eye Chopper 13 captured hundreds in Baltimore all pleading for change.
"The black African American community is actually being killed week after week after week," said Chanel Cruz.
Thursday's protests are similar to what took place last week when thousands across the country were outraged by a decision in Ferguson, sparking chaos in Missouri and nationwide.
There was a gridlock in Baltimore City--a scene many fear could be a weekly reality for months to come.
"Justice is not coming any time soon. So we'll be out here in these streets until that day that justice is served," one protestor said.
Reports say the New York police officer was the last to testify in the case, saying he learned the technique used to take down Garner in the police academy.
