Demonstrators Gather Outside U.S. Supreme Court As Health Care Reform Hearings Continue
WASHINGTON (WJZ)—Debate over President Obama's health care law enters its second day in the U.S. Supreme Court.
Monique Griego has more on the debate inside and outside the chambers.
It's being called a landmark case, and that's bringing out a lot of advocates on both sides of the issue.
Hundreds of people protested outside the court as the nine justices began arguments over whether the health care law that affects millions of Americans is constitutional.
Tuesday the justices are considering the law's so-called individual mandate.
It requires uninsured Americans to buy health coverage by 2014 or pay a penalty.
Twenty-six states and a small business group are trying to get the law struck down.
The court's decision is expected in June, right in the heart of the presidential race.
