Delaware Rallies To Beat Towson 80-70
NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Jawal Carter scored 22 points and Devon Saddler added 20 as Delaware rallied for an 80-70 victory over Towson on Wednesday night.
The Blue Hens (13-15, 8-9 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 32-28 at halftime against the team that has now lost 17 in a row. The streak seemed in jeopardy as the Tigers' lead grew to 11 points three times in the second half, the final time coming on Braxton Dupree's layup with 12:14 left.
Delaware, which won for only the second time in eight games, used a 16-4 run over the next 2:58 to take its first lead of the second half. Carter's free throws put the Blue Hens ahead 55-54.
Brian Johnson had 14 for Delaware, including his 1,000th career point.
Isaiah Philmore's 22 points and 11 rebounds and Dupree's 20 points led the Tigers (4-24, 0-17), who are one loss from becoming the first CAA team to finish a season without a league win.
