Police: Son Suspected In Russian Woman's Death
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore County Police say the son of a Russian woman who disappeared while on a trip to Maryland is a suspect in her death.
Baltimore County police spokewoman Elise Armacost said Wednesday that Dmitry Pronin is a suspect in the death of 54-year-old Yulia Pogrebenko of Irkutsk, but he has not been charged. Pronin is serving 10 years for a Delaware bank robbery.
Authorities appealed to the public for help in finding Pogrebenko in May, saying the university professor was last heard from on Feb. 23 as she drove from Kennedy International Airport in New York to Catonsville. Her rental car was found in the Baltimore area.
Pogrebenko's body was found in the Chesapeake Bay in June. Russian officials provided DNA samples to help identify the body.
