D.C. Theater To Restage Apple-Bashing Show In Summer
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Washington theater that launched the one-man show about horrific working conditions in Chinese factories where iPads and iPhones are assembled is apologizing for calling it a work of nonfiction after performer Mike Daisey was forced to admit he made up parts of the show.
Still, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company said Wednesday that it plans to bring the "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs" back to Washington this summer. The theater's artistic and managing directors say they stand by the show as a piece of theater. They say art is different from journalism.
Revelations that some claims in the show weren't true led to retractions by public radio's "This American Life" and
corrections by other news organizations.
Woolly Mammoth says Daisey's accounts have been corroborated by journalists.
