D.C. Commission Names Thomas Executive Director
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities has named a new executive director.
The commission says Lionell Thomas most recently served as executive director for the Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council.
He replaces outgoing interim director Ayris Scales.
Judith Terra, the commission's chair, says Thomas brings great knowledge of the city and great vision for the future of the city.
Thomas said in a news release that he looks forward to working with Mayor Vincent Gray's administration and with the community to cultivate the city's creative energy for Washington's residents and visitors.
Thomas, a native of Washington, served with the commission for 22 years in positions that included deputy director and interim director.
