D.C. Police Seize 30 Kilograms Of Cocaine
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police in the nation's capital have announced a major drug bust.
Court documents show that nearly 30 kilograms of cocaine were seized last week from a storage locker in suburban Hyattsville, Md.
Documents show the seizure followed a 15-month investigation by D.C. police and the FBI. Four men have been indicted on a drug conspiracy charge that carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the bust disrupted "a major pipeline of cocaine that was destined for various neighborhoods" around D.C. She says it's the largest seizure of narcotics in the district in the last several years. Authorities also seized an assault rifle and a handgun.
Indicted were Gezo Edwards, 37, William Bowman, 31, Robert Richards, 35, and William Moorer, 37.
