D.C., Md., Va. Learn Student Averages On SAT
WASHINGTON (AP) -- School officials in the capital region are learning how well their students did on the SAT.
A report released Wednesday by the College Board, which administers the test, announces the average scores for each state.
According to the report, District of Columbia students' average scores were lower than the national average in every category.
Nationwide, averages were 497 in reading, 514 in math and 489 in writing.
In Washington, averages were 469 in reading, 457 in math and 459 in writing.
Students in Maryland and Virginia did better than the national average in every category but math. In Maryland, students' averaged 499 in reading, 502 in math, 491 in writing. In Virginia average score were 512 in reading, 509 in math and 495 in writing.
