D.C. Man Gets 19 Years For 2006 Md. Bank Robbery
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A judge has sentenced a Washington man to more than 19 years in prison for the 2006 armed robbery of a bank that authorities say he robbed nearly a decade earlier.
Authorities say Elijah Leroy Neal, 35, was sentenced Tuesday to 235 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
According to a news release, Neal's plea agreement says he took more than $50,000 from a lockbox from the First Liberty National Bank in January 2006 after holding an employee at knife point.
Authorities say Neal pleaded guilty in October 1997 to robbing the same bank of $1,740, when it was a branch of Enterprise Federal Savings Bank. At the time he was sentenced to more than six years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
