Cummings To Present Grants To Housing Groups
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Rep. Elijah Cummings will be on hand to present federal grants to two affordable-housing groups in his hometown of Baltimore.
Neighborhood Housing Services of Baltimore will receive more than $250,000, and St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center will get $150,000. Both organizations help homebuyers and homeowners facing foreclosure in the city.
The money comes from NeighborWorks America, a nonprofit established by Congress to create affordable housing and develop communities.
Cummings is the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and has been a leading voice on foreclosure prevention.
