Cruise Ship Worker Sentenced For Abusing Minor
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Jamaican national has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for the sexual abuse of a minor while on the cruise ship where he worked.
Fabian Palmer, 25, was also ordered to register as a sex offender at sentencing in U.S. District Court in Baltimore on Friday.
According to his plea agreement, Palmer was employed to maintain the pool areas on the ship. The victim, a 14-year-old girl, and her family boarded the ship in Baltimore on Dec. 17. During the weeklong cruise, Palmer befriended the girl and eventually had sex with her on the ship.
Prosecutors say the conduct occurred within the special maritime jurisdiction of the United States.
