Crook Who Used Taxi As Getaway Car Pleads Guilty
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man who took a cab to and from a bank he robbed has pleaded guilty to the crime.
Gary Allen Mitchell, 42, of Salisbury entered the plea Friday in federal court in Baltimore. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison at sentencing Nov. 15.
According to his plea agreement, Mitchell walked into the PNC bank in Salisbury on March 21 and gave a teller a note saying he had a gun and demanding money. Prosecutors say the teller gave Mitchell more than $4,000.
Police say Mitchell fled in the same cab he had taken to the bank. Police determined where the taxi had picked Mitchell up.
Officers found Mitchell, with the stolen money, smoking crack cocaine.
