Crews Rescue Woman From Apartment Fire In Columbia
COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- Crews rescue a woman from an apartment fire in Columbia.
Howard County firefighters and paramedics responded to Columbia Landing apartments in the 8800 block of Tamar Drive just before 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Crews discovered the third floor was on fire.
Inside, they found an unconscious woman who had gone into cardiac arrest. The woman, who is in her 70's, was rescued and resuscitated.
She was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in life-threatening condition.
The building had smoke alarms, which alerted residents. Five apartment units were affected by the fire. The property manager is helping those who have been displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
