Craig Laughlin Doesn't Think The Capitals Should Rest Players Before The Playoffs
Craig Laughlin is a former Washington Capitals player who is now the color commentator for Caps broadcasts on Comcast Sportsnet.
Craig joined Ed and Steve to talk about tonight's game against the Flyers, the upcoming playoffs, and what the punishment should be for Duncan Keith for last night's slashing incident.
Craig started off by talking about whether the Capitals should rest Braden Holtby or start him enough to go after Brodeur's record of 48 wins in a season saying "I think you go to him he's a guy who plays better when he plays a lot, in the playoffs you need a hot goaltender...I think it's Braden's call since we have a couple of back to back games coming up." As for whether or not Holtby should be in the running for the Hart Trophy as league MVP Craig said "I think so when you look at this team and the way he's played...I think he deserves credit for MVP and I think he'll be one of the finalists and he should win the Vezina."
Craig was asked if the Caps should rest Ovechkin before the playoffs begin and said "Barry Trotz is a big believer in don't rest guys unless they are nicked up...I don't think Ovechkin has played that well lately and the ten million dollar question is do you rest him or play him."
Duncan Keith was involved in a slash to the face of a Minnesota player in their game last night, Craig shared his thoughts on the incident saying "I would think 3 to 5 games, I don't think it's going to be a long-term thing."
And finally Craig also talked about who he thinks should win the Jack Adams Trophy for coach of the year saying "I think Barry Trotz should win the trophy" then Craig named some other coaches deserving of the honor.
