Countdown To Kickoff: Excited Ravens Fans Ready For Super Bowl XLVII

MT. VERNON, Md. (WJZ) -- We are counting down the hours until the Ravens take the field for Super Bowl XLVII.

As Monique Griego reports, fans from Maryland are getting ready for the Super Showdown, and the excitement is reaching a fever pitch.

With Super Bowl weekend officially here, fans are rushing out to get that last minute purple and black.

"The last couple weeks have been crazy. In 2001 we were open 24 hours also for the Super Bowl championship, but this year has totally surpassed it," said Dan McClure, Ravensfever.com.

Dan the T-Shirt Man and his stand in Rosedale are swamped with customers--many already banking on a win by buying World Championship tees.

"We have people coming in from all over the world to see us. It's been a very festive atmosphere, very fun," he said.

And while this time of year is usually slow for sales, T-shirt supplier Swagg Dog Apparel says a Super Bowl-bound team means booming business.

"Every year the Ravens get further along we see spikes in sales so it's fantastic," employee Tom Jones said.

And while some plan to wear their Ravens support, others are taking purple passion straight to the head. So as fans get ready to celebrate another win, police are reminding people to do it safely. The department has already beefed up the amount of officers on patrol this weekend.

"They'll be deployed all around the city looking for potential problems," said Baltimore Police Chief John Skinner.

So with that in mind, fans remain focused on one thing--a Super Bowl win.

"We live for this kind of stuff. Every Sunday it's almost like a religious experience," Jones said.

"I''m like, 'Come on be Sunday already. Be Sunday already,'" said Ravens fan April Simmons.

And remember, WJZ is the only place you can watch Super Bowl XLVII. Full day coverage, including the game between the Ravens and the 49ers, will be live on WJZ-TV.
