VESTAL, N.Y. (AP) -- Dylon Cormier scored 31 points and Jarred Jones added 22 as Loyola University Maryland held off Binghamton 79-74 Friday night.
Cormier and Jones both finished the night with career highs in scoring to give Greyhounds head coach G.G. Smith his first win. Jones had four blocked shots, two coming in the final minutes of the game to preserve the lead for Loyola.
After trailing by one at halftime, the Bearcats were able to stay close to Loyola for most of the second half before eventually taking the lead on back-to-back three pointers by Marlon Beck and Yousef Yacob with 5:05 remaining. Jones answered with a running jumper and put Loyola ahead for good at 75-72.
Preseason All-America East First Team player Jordan Reed led the Bearcats with 23 points and nine rebounds. Nick Madray had 22 for Binghamton in his first collegiate game.
