Contractor Acquitted By Anne Arundel Judge
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- An Anne Arundel County judge has acquitted a contractor accused of stealing from his clients.
A group of clients had pressed county prosecutors for criminal charges against Gregory Haigis, of Arnold, Md., who they say took money for work that was not completed, asked for more money and also did shoddy work.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the judge on Wednesday ruled that the case should be handled by a civil court and that criminal penalties wouldn't apply.
More than a dozen clients claimed that they were out nearly $1 million because of poor work and stop-work orders that left projects in disarray.
