Colo. Man Charged In 2000 Dundalk Slaying
TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County Police say a Colorado man has been charged with a slaying in Dundalk in 2000.
Alexander Charles Bennett, 32, of Greeley, Colo., was arrested Thursday by Colorado authorities. He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Heidi Louise Bernadzikowski.
Bernadzikowski, 24, was found dead in her Dundalk home on April 20, 2000. She had been strangled and her neck was cut.
In September, police learned that DNA evidence from the scene matched a specimen in the FBI's national database.
Police were led to Bennett. Officers say he was found by authorities on March 30, 2000, walking along the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Thruway.
Police do not know what connection, if any, Bennett has to the victim.
Bennett is being held in Colorado awaiting extradition to Maryland.
