Cole Talks Al Jazeera Case & Jimmy Garoppolo
Jason Cole from Bleacher Report joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to give us the latest from around the NFL.
Jimmy Garoppolo will be at the helm for the New England Patriots while Tom Brady is suspended for the first four games of the season. Cole thinks Garoppolo will hold his own. "You saw what they did when Matt Cassel was the quarterback in '08 and they managed to win 10-11 games that year…Now they don't have Randy Moss, but they've got [Rob] Gronkowski. All things said, I think they can go 2-2. The worst case I think they go 1-3."
James Harrison, Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and Mike Neal have all agreed to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell over the Al Jazeera case. Cole believes the NFL is in a losing situation no matter what. "The league is sort of damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they ignore the Al Jazeera thing, then everybody says, 'Aw they just ignored it, nobody did anything and blah blah blah', especially when it comes to Peyton [Manning]. If they take it seriously, we're ripping them because they're taking it seriously, and too seriously."
