Colby Giacubeno Talks Game 5 Of The NBA Finals
Colby Giacubeno who covers the NBA for Hoops Habit joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to discuss Game 5 of the NBA Finals tonight.
The Golden State Warriors currently hold a three games to one lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. With a win tonight, the Warriors would clinch back to back NBA Championships. Giacubeno gave his prediction on tonight's contest. "I think tonight, sadly, is going to be the last night of the NBA season because I just don't see the Cavaliers winning...Especially for Golden State going home to Oracle, it's hard enough to win a game there as it is. Certainly the absence of Green helps, but I think Golden State has too much momentum, too much motivation for the Cavs to extend this series."
Golden State's dynamic forward Draymond Green is suspended for Game 5 after hitting LeBron James in the groin during Game 4. On Sunday, the NBA assessed a flagrant foul to Green, which put him over the limit for flagrant fouls in the playoffs triggering a one-game suspension. Giacubeno discussed how Green's absence will affect tonight's game, "Green's been pretty much making [Kevin Love] a non-factor. It's going to be interesting to see how [Steve] Kerr kind of reacts to that, throwing different guys on him at different times. I expect to see a lot of post-ups from Love, especially if Barnes, Livingston, if those guys are on him because he can use his size."
Giacubeno also looked ahead to next year and talked about what each team's roster might look like next season. "Golden State's looking like they'll be able to keep the roster pretty much…the Warriors are ready to offer [Harrison Barnes] the money that he wants…With Cleveland, that'll be a very, very interesting scene. Where is Love? Is he going to get dealt? It's looking more and more like that's going to happen," said Giacubeno.
