Colby Giacubeno Talks Finals, Kevin Durant and Diamond Stone
Colby Giacubeno from Hoops Habit joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant's impending free agency and Diamond Stone's draft prospects.
The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a three games to one deficit against the Golden State Warriors to win their first NBA Championship Sunday night. Giacubeno talked about what he thought the turning point in the series was. "This one had a huge turning point with Game 5 on Draymond Green not being able to play because of his flagrant foul on LeBron [James]. Even Draymond himself and Steve Kerr said that was the turning point of this series…You cannot give an ounce of hope to a LeBron James-led team."
Kevin Durant is headlining this year's free agent class. Reports are saying there's an outside chance he signs with Golden State, but Giacubeno thinks he's heading back to Oklahoma City. "They're going to do all the things they can to try to make him come there. I don't think he does. You got to think he was up 3-1 a couple of weeks ago on this team. For him to trade sides, you can't imagine the backlash that's gonna come with him and his career."
Former University of Maryland freshman center Diamond Stone is hoping to hear his name called at the NBA Draft Thursday night. Giacubeno gave his thoughts on when he thinks Stone will go. "He's going to fall into the second round…Somebody's going to take him because even though he had his spurts where he didn't really do so well last season at Maryland, he's got all the tools to be a productive big man in the NBA, at least off the bench as a rotation guy."
