Coast Guard Intercepts Plane Near Washington, D.C.
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) -- Military officials at the North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado say they scrambled a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter to intercept a biplane that entered restricted air space around Washington, D.C.
NORAD spokesman John Cornelio says the helicopter escorted the biplane to Stafford Regional Airport in Fredericksburg, Va., Thursday evening. Local law enforcement officers met the plane.
