Civil War Tourism Group Touts Videos By Md. Kids
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A heritage tourism and educational group is using videos made by some Maryland middle-school students to spotlight the importance of connecting children with history.
The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership is screening the videos at its annual conference Wednesday in Frederick.
The students from E. Russell Hicks Middle School in Hagerstown and Springfield Middle School in Williamsport worked on the projects with rangers from the Antietam National Battlefield and the Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park.
Their projects are part of a joint effort between the private group and the National Park Service to help commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
The Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area runs from Gettysburg, Pa., through Maryland and Harpers Ferry, W.Va., to Charlottesville, Va.
