Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion Is An Acrobatic Love Story
BALTIMORE (WJZ)— The breathtaking and rhythmic acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil is in Baltimore this week.
Kai Jackson shows us two performers who make the impossible seem effortless.
It's part acrobatics, part acting with lots of rehearsals.
It's Cirque du Soleil's Dralion now at Baltimore's 1st Mariner Arena.
Two of the show's stars say the audience will see high-flying feats people have come to expect from Cirque, yet in this show they'll also see a love story.
"To be placed together as a couple who has to perform a love story not knowing each other is a big feat. And Cirque did a good job pairing us 'cuz we get along really well," said Amanda Orozco, Cirque performer.
Orozco and Lorant Markocsany have an acrobatic act with silk scarves.
Like many Cirque performances, it's a meticulous display of strength and grace.
"I love the act and the show. The music is beautiful. And then so I told them 'Yeah, sure. I want to do it,'" Markocsany said.
"It's a great show. It's full of energy. There's really something for everybody. From, it's a family show, but from kids, from 2 to 92 there's really something for everybody. Between the acrobatics, the love stories, the high energy, the softer acts, and it's just really a lot of fun," Orozco said.
While the duo is proud of the work they do, they're also complimentary of their colleagues.
Both are convinced that at a Cirque show each audience member will find something that appeals directly to them.
Cirque du Soleil will be in Baltimore through Sunday at 1st Mariner Arena.
