Christmas Comes To Hampden; Santa Lights Up 34th Street
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It was a chilly Saturday night, but perfect for a Baltimore Christmas tradition.
Adam May reports hundreds rang in the season with Santa Claus showing up in Hampden.
34th Street in Hampden lights up for the holiday season.
"It's really, really nice to be out here with my daughters," said Homer Walton.
Especially when Santa makes an early appearance.
"I think it's great for the neighborhood to do this. It brings the community together. A great start to the holiday season," Tara McKnight said.
"I like to watch the lights," said Brooks McKnight.
For 65 years now, residents of the street string together one of Baltimore's favorite holiday traditions.
"I've come here every single year since I was little, it's a tradition. It's really cool to come out opening night and see Santa and all the people. It gets you in the spirit for Christmas," one visitor said.
This year there's some new displays, along with the classics.
The event is free, so don't be tricked by people asking for donations.
