Christie Open To Leaving Office For Trump White House Post

FAIR LAWN, N.J. (AP) — Republican Gov. Chris Christie says he is willing to consider leaving office for a position in a possible Donald Trump White House.

NJ.com reports that Christie said Thursday he would only leave if he thought he could "make the country better."

Christie was among Trump's finalists to join the presidential ticket before he ultimately chose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. Christie currently chairs Trump's White House transition team.

Christie's second and final term as governor ends in early 2018.

He delivered the remarks at a public forum on his proposal to scrap a state formula for distributing state aid to schools that mostly benefits poorer school districts. Instead Christie is seeking to distribute aid equally per pupil across the state.
