Chris & Jill Davis Will Serve As Race Ambassadors For Casey Cares 5K
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- For the second consecutive year, Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his wife, Jill, will serve as race ambassadors for the eighth annual Casey Cares 5K Run/Walk at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Saturday, August 5, as the Orioles and OriolesREACH once again partner with the Casey Cares Foundation to host the race.
"Casey Cares is honored to once again partner with the Baltimore Orioles and their OriolesREACH program," said Casey Baynes, the Executive Director of the Casey Cares Foundation. "We are excited to have Chris and Jill Davis return as our race ambassadors. Chris and Jill are committed to helping us continue to make little moments and lasting memories for families with critically-ill children."
Additionally, Davis will once again attend the Casey Cares Extra Innings Event this year, where critically-ill children and their families meet with Orioles players to learn the fundamentals of baseball.
"Jill and I are thrilled to once again partner with Casey Cares in support of this great cause," said Chris Davis. "We are so grateful to everyone involved with this race and for the role it plays in helping to bring happiness to the children and their families who are most in need."
The 3.1 mile run/one mile walk starts at 8:00 a.m., beginning at Oriole Park, and ends on the field. Participants will partake in a pre-race warm-up with the Oriole Bird, music, and other entertainment, and will enjoy post-race refreshments. Top race winners will be announced in a pregame ceremony prior to that night's game against the Detroit Tigers.
Registration for the race is open now and both teams and individuals are encouraged to register. Entry fees are $40 per person through Wednesday, May 31, $45 from Thursday, June 1 through Friday, August 4, or $50 per person on race day (cash or check only). All proceeds will benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides personalized, uplifting, and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically-ill children and their family members throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Since moving to Oriole Park in 2013, the race has raised more than $413,000.
