Children Safe After 2 D.C. Residents Carjack Taxi Driver In Md.
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Two Washington, D.C. residents were arrested for the carjacking of a taxi driver in Anne Arundel county over the weekend.
It happened around midnight on Saturday in the 600 block of Ritchie Highway in Severna.
Police in Anne Arundel County say the 61-year-old victim responded to a 7-Eleven to pick up a fare when the customers became irate and started assaulting him.
According to police, the suspects—with two small children in their custody—started assaulting the taxi driver and was ultimately able to push the victim out of the car to flee the scene.
The victim says the suspects became irate when they were told they would need to pay upfront for a ride to Washington, D.C.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department later found the stolen vehicle unoccupied near Evergreen Road and Lockleven Drive.
Further investigation led to the arrest of 25-year-old Leah Charnelle Ellison and 22-year-old Andreas Richard Robinson, both of Washington, D.C.
Both suspects were charged with carjacking, robbery, unlawful taking of motor vehicle, 2nd degree assault and disorderly conduct.
Child Protective Services have taken custody of the children.
