Child Neglect Charges Dropped Against Parents
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Prosecutors say they have dropped charges of neglect and child abuse against a couple found living on a squalid sailboat with their two teenage sons.
John and Sherri Kelly were arrested in February after authorities boarded the 28-foot sailboat on the Magothy River.
Officials said they found the family of five, including an adult son, and two dogs living in a 9-by-10-foot space with no electricity, heat or running water and the bow was filled with trash.
Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess told The Capital of Annapolis on Tuesday that an investigation by Child Protective Services led to all charges being dropped in the case.
